Tyre Market Size in Slovakia

In 2019, the Slovak tyre market decreased by -X% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2019, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tyre exports fell to $X in 2019. In general, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018, and then reduced in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for tyre exports from Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, tyre exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Poland (X units), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+X% per year) and Poland (+X% per year).

Imports into Slovakia

In 2019, tyre imports into Slovakia declined dramatically to X units, with a decrease of -X% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2019, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, tyre imports dropped notably to $X in 2019. In general, imports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

The Czech Republic (X units), Germany (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main suppliers of tyre imports to Slovakia, with a combined X% share of total imports.
