Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sulphuric acid exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a sharp contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of sulphuric acid exports from Slovakia, together comprising X% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest markets for sulphuric acid exported from Slovakia were the Czech Republic ($X), Bulgaria ($X) and Hungary ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Imports into Slovakia
In 2021, the amount of sulphuric acid and oleum imported into Slovakia stood at X tons, surging by X% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sulphuric acid imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
