China (X litres) was the main destination for sparkling wine exports from Slovakia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, sparkling wine exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X litres), twofold. Germany (X litres) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to China amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (-X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for sparkling wine exports from Slovakia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Czech Republic ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to China stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (-X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

The average sparkling wine export price stood at $X per litre in 2021, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of X% year-to-year. The export price peaked at $X per litre in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Slovakia
Sparkling wine imports into Slovakia surged to X litres in 2021, rising by X% compared with 2020. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, sparkling wine imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Italy (X litres) constituted the largest sparkling wine supplier to Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sparkling wine imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X litres), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Austria (X litres), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Italy stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+X% per year) and Austria (+X% per year).
In value terms, the largest sparkling wine suppliers to Slovakia were Italy ($X), France ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Italy, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, sparkling wine import price increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2020, and then declined in the following year.
