In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2020, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, pyrethrum and peppermint exports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tonnes) was the main destination for pyrethrum and peppermint exports from Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, pyrethrum and peppermint exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hungary (X tonnes), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the Czech Republic stood at +X%.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the key foreign market for pyrethrum and peppermint exports from Slovakia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Hungary ($X), with a X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the Czech Republic totaled +X%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average pyrethrum and peppermint export price amounted to $X per tonne, which is down by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a sharp downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic amounted to $X per tonne.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (-X%).

Imports into Slovakia
In 2021, overseas purchases of pyrethrum and peppermint decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
In value terms, pyrethrum and peppermint imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of pyrethrum and peppermint imports to Slovakia, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Bulgaria, India, Croatia, Hungary, Turkey, Austria and China, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (+X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest supplier of pyrethrum and peppermint to Slovakia, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Poland ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Czech Republic amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average pyrethrum and peppermint import price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per tonne), while the price for Turkey ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
