Plywood Exports

Exports from Slovakia

Plywood exports from Slovakia shrank remarkably to X cubic meters in 2023, dropping by X% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X cubic meters in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plywood exports contracted significantly to $X in 2023. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X cubic meters) was the main destination for plywood exports from Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, plywood exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Austria (X cubic meters), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Czech Republic (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (X% per year) and the Czech Republic (X% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for plywood exports from Slovakia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany stood at X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (X% per year) and the Netherlands (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the average plywood export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Plywood Imports

Imports into Slovakia

In 2023, supplies from abroad of plywood decreased by X% to X cubic meters, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plywood imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2023. Overall, imports saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Poland (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of plywood to Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, plywood imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Ukraine (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (X% per year) and Ukraine (X% per year).

In value terms, the largest plywood suppliers to Slovakia were Poland ($X), Germany ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. Ukraine, Finland, Austria, Spain, Italy, China, Latvia, Estonia and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average plywood import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2023, with a decrease of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of X%. The import price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Vietnam ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
