The Czech Republic (X cubic meters) was the main destination for MDF exports from Slovakia, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, MDF exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X cubic meters), fivefold. Ukraine (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Czech Republic totaled -3.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+6.1% per year) and Poland (+27.4% per year).

The average MDF export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2021, growing by 48% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Slovakia

In 2021, imports of MDF into Slovakia soared to X cubic meters, picking up by 39% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, MDF imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Germany (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of MDF to Slovakia, with a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, MDF imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X cubic meters), with a 13% share.
