Moreover, tantalum exports to Taiwan (Chinese) exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malaysia (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Japan (X kg), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Taiwan (Chinese) totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+X% per year) and Japan (+X% per year).
In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) remains the key foreign market for tantalum exports from Singapore, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Malaysia ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Taiwan (Chinese) stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+X% per year) and Japan (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average tantalum export price amounted to $X per tonne, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X kg) constituted the largest supplier of tantalum to Singapore, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, tantalum imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X kg), fivefold. The United States (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
