Mushroom And Truffle Exports

Exports from Serbia

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of mushrooms and truffles decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mushroom and truffle exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

North Macedonia (X tons) was the main destination for mushroom and truffle exports from Serbia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, mushroom and truffle exports to North Macedonia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), more than tenfold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to North Macedonia totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (X% per year) and Italy (X% per year).

In value terms, North Macedonia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for mushrooms and truffles exports from Serbia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to North Macedonia totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (X% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average mushroom and truffle export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price faced a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by X%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Serbia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of mushrooms and truffles was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports saw significant growth. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mushroom and truffle imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest mushroom and truffle supplier to Serbia, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, mushroom and truffle imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Croatia (X tons), threefold.
