In value terms, plastic bottle exports reached $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Denmark (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Norway (X tons) represented the largest importer of carboys, bottles and similar articles of plastics in Scandinavia, constituting 83% of total import.
