The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Sweden (X tons) was the major exporter of carboys, bottles and similar articles of plastics, making up 61% of total exports. Norway (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Denmark (X tons). All these countries together held near 37% share of total exports. Finland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Sweden was also the fastest-growing in terms of the carboys, bottles and similar articles of plastics exports, with a CAGR of +10.5% from 2012 to 2021. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Denmark (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Norway (X tons) represented the largest importer of carboys, bottles and similar articles of plastics in Scandinavia, constituting 83% of total import. It was distantly followed by Finland (X tons), committing a 15% share of total imports. Iceland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
