Canned Vegetable Exports

Exports in Scandinavia

In 2022, shipments abroad of canned vegetables decreased by -5.1% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. In general, exports showed a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, canned vegetable exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 19%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Sweden dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Norway (X tons) and Finland (X tons), together generating a 10% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to canned vegetable exports from Sweden stood at -1.3%. At the same time, Norway (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 7.9%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
