Rapeseed Oil Market Size in Saudi Arabia

The revenue of the rapeseed oil market in Saudi Arabia amounted to $X in 2018, going down by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, rapeseed oil exports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2014 to 2018, the growth of rapeseed oil exports failed to regain its momentum.

In value terms, rapeseed oil exports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, rapeseed oil exports continue to indicate an abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, rapeseed oil exports reached their peak of $X. From 2014 to 2018, the growth of rapeseed oil exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

New Zealand (X tonnes) was the main destination for rapeseed oil exports from Saudi Arabia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, rapeseed oil exports to New Zealand exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ghana (X tonnes), eightfold.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume to New Zealand amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (-X% per year) and Singapore (+X% per year).

In value terms, New Zealand ($X) remains the key foreign market for rapeseed oil exports from Saudi Arabia, comprising X% of total rapeseed oil exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Singapore ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to New Zealand totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+X% per year) and Ghana (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average rapeseed oil export price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the rapeseed oil export price continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked in 2018 and is expected to retain its growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Saudi Arabia

In 2018, the amount of rapeseed oil imported into Saudi Arabia totaled X tonnes, lowering by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2007 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, rapeseed oil imports decreased by -X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

Oman (X tonnes), the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes) and Bangladesh (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of rapeseed oil imports to Saudi Arabia, together comprising X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Oman, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest rapeseed oil suppliers to Saudi Arabia were Oman ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, the United Arab Emirates experienced the highest growth rate of imports, over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2018, the average rapeseed oil import price amounted to $X per tonne, jumping by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
