Manuka Market Size in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi manuka market fell dramatically to $X in 2019, which is down by -X% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. Moreover, manuka exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X tonnes), twofold. Kuwait (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United Arab Emirates stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (-X% per year) and Kuwait (+X% per year).

In general, export price indicated a strong increase from 2007 to 2019: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Manuka imports into Saudi Arabia dropped remarkably to X tonnes in 2019, reducing by -X% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, manuka imports declined rapidly to $X in 2019. Overall, imports, however, posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Pakistan (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and India (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of manuka imports to Saudi Arabia, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2018 to 2019, the growth in terms of the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($X per tonne), while the price for China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
