Ghee Market Size in Saudi Arabia

In 2019, the Saudi ghee market decreased by -X% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, consumption posted buoyant growth. Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X tonnes), Oman (X tonnes) and Qatar (X tonnes) were the main destinations of ghee exports from Saudi Arabia, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Oman, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Oman ($X), Qatar ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest markets for ghee exported from Saudi Arabia worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

In 2019, the average ghee export price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Mauritania ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Saudi Arabia

In 2019, the amount of ghee imported into Saudi Arabia totaled X tonnes, increasing by X% on 2018. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2019 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, ghee imports fell to $X in 2019. Overall, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2019, New Zealand (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Saudi Arabia, with a X% share of total imports. In general, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2007 to 2019: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
