South Africa dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Namibia (X units) and Mozambique (X units) - each accounted for a 4.4% share of total exports.
Exports from South Africa increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mozambique (+27.8%) and Namibia (+15.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mozambique emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of +27.8% from 2012-2022. South Africa (+9.7 p.p.), Mozambique (+1.9 p.p.) and Namibia (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest pneumatic linear acting actuator supplier in SADC, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Namibia ($X), with a 1.8% share of total exports.
In South Africa, pneumatic linear acting actuator exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Namibia (+30.1% per year) and Mozambique (+26.8% per year).

In 2022, purchases abroad of pneumatic linear acting actuators increased by 6.1% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. It was distantly followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) and Namibia (X units), together making up a 12% share of total imports. Botswana (X units), Tanzania (X units), Zambia (X units), Angola (X units) and Mozambique (X units) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to pneumatic linear acting actuator imports into South Africa stood at -1.0%. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (+9.5%), Mozambique (+8.8%) and Tanzania (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Democratic Republic of the Congo emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in SADC, with a CAGR of +9.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Namibia (-5.0%), Angola (-10.6%), Botswana (-11.9%) and Zambia (-12.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of South Africa (+11 p.p.), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+4.3 p.p.) and Tanzania (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Angola (-4.5 p.p.), Zambia (-6.7 p.p.) and Botswana (-7.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pneumatic linear acting actuators in SADC, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Angola ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 5.2% share.
In South Africa, pneumatic linear acting actuator imports declined by an average annual rate of -2.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Angola (-7.7% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+6.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in SADC stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -5.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
