By contrast, Tanzania (-19.5%), Zambia (-19.9%), Namibia (-20.0%), Angola (-20.3%) and Botswana (-22.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of South Africa, Mauritius and Zimbabwe increased by +29, +5.9 and +3 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pen or pencil sets in SADC, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Namibia ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Angola, with a 4.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa amounted to -7.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Namibia (-21.0% per year) and Angola (-12.7% per year).
