In 2022, approx. X tons of animal and pet feed were exported in SADC; picking up by X% on the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, animal feed exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. South Africa was the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded X% of total exports. Swaziland (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Mauritius (X tons), Namibia (X tons) and Zambia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Tanzania (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of animal and pet feed. At the same time, Tanzania (X%), Namibia (X%), Mauritius (X%), Swaziland (X%) and Zambia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tanzania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. While the share of Namibia (X p.p.), Tanzania (X p.p.), Swaziland (X p.p.) and Mauritius (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of South Africa (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
