The countries with the highest levels of pork exports in 2018 were the U.S. (X tons), Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Canada (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons), together reaching X% of total export.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Spain, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2018, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil, Belgium, Poland, France and Rwanda, which together accounted for a further X terms of the main exporting countries, Poland recorded the highest growth rate of exports, over the last eleven years, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the pork export price in Rwanda amounted to $X per ton, going up by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2018, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 when the export price increased by X% y-o-y. Rwanda export price peaked in 2018 and is expected to retain its growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, pork imports reached their maximum at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Japan (X tons), Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented roughly X% of total imports of pork in 2018. South Korea (X tons), the UK (X tons), the U.S. (X tons), China, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Russia (X tons) and France (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
