Refrigerator And Freezer Market Size in the Russian Federation

After three years of growth, the Russian refrigerator and freezer market decreased by -X% to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when the market value increased by X% year-to-year. Exports from the Russian Federation

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of refrigerators and freezers decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, refrigerator and freezer exports reduced modestly to $X in 2019. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018, and then declined in the following year.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan (X tonnes) was the main destination for refrigerator and freezer exports from Russia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, refrigerator and freezer exports to Kazakhstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ukraine (X tonnes), threefold. Belarus (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume to Kazakhstan amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ukraine (-X% per year) and Belarus (+X% per year).

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for refrigerator and freezer exports from Russia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Kazakhstan amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+X% per year) and Ukraine (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2019, the average refrigerator and freezer export price amounted to $X per tonne, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Russian Federation

For the fourth year in a row, Russia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of refrigerators and freezers, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2019. In general, total imports indicated modest growth from 2007 to 2019: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, refrigerator and freezer imports rose slightly to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tonnes), Belarus (X tonnes) and Poland (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of refrigerator and freezer imports to Russia, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Ukraine, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy and Serbia, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Serbia, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Belarus ($X) and Poland ($X) constituted the largest refrigerator and freezer suppliers to Russia, together accounting for X% of total imports. Germany, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Italy and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main suppliers, Serbia (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average refrigerator and freezer import price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2019, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for Ukraine ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
