Nitrites Market Size in the Russian Federation

The Russian nitrites market fell notably to $X in 2019, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, consumption faced a significant contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with a decrease of -X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2019, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, the amount of nitrites exported from Russia contracted to X tonnes, with a decrease of -X% against 2019 figures. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, nitrites exports shrank to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan (X tonnes), Belarus (X tonnes) and the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes) were the main destinations of nitrites exports from Russia, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in the United Arab Emirates (+X% per year), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Belarus ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the largest markets for nitrites exported from Russia worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates (+X% per year) saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average nitrites export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2020, overseas purchases of nitrites decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the sixth consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, nitrites imports shrank to $X in 2020. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2020, China (X tonnes) constituted the largest nitrites supplier to Russia, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, nitrites imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tonnes), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by France (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of nitrites to Russia, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Italy ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and Germany (-X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average nitrites import price amounted to $X per tonne, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, nitrites import price increased by +X% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
