Clove Market Size in the Russian Federation

The revenue of the clove market in Russia amounted to $X in 2018, rising by X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In value terms, clove exports totaled $X in 2018. In general, clove exports, however, continue to indicate remarkable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, clove exports reached their peak of $X. From 2013 to 2018, the growth of clove exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Belarus (X tonnes) was the main destination for clove exports from Russia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, clove exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kazakhstan (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Azerbaijan (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Belarus stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Azerbaijan (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for clove exported from Russia were Belarus ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Ukraine ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.

Ukraine recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to market size, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average clove export price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the clove export price continues to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Clove Imports

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2018, the imports of cloves into Russia stood at X tonnes, dropping by -X% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2018; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded over the period under review. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, clove imports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of clove imports failed to regain its momentum.

In value terms, clove imports amounted to $X in 2018. In general, clove imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2018 and are likely to continue its growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Madagascar (X tonnes) constituted the largest clove supplier to Russia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, clove imports from Madagascar exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Comoros (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Singapore (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Madagascar totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Comoros (+X% per year) and Singapore (-X% per year).

In value terms, the largest clove suppliers to Russia were Madagascar ($X), Comoros ($X) and Singapore ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Comoros experienced the highest growth rate of market size, over the period under review, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2018, the average clove import price amounted to $X per tonne, going up by X% against the previous year. In general, the clove import price continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. The import price peaked in 2018 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per tonne), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Comoros, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
