Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cigarettes containing tobacco exports expanded slightly to $X in 2020. In general, exports posted pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan (X tonnes), Ukraine (X tonnes) and Iraq (X tonnes) were the main destinations of cigarettes containing tobacco exports from Russia, with a combined X% share of total exports. Serbia, Syrian Arab Republic, Jordan, Belarus, Armenia, Poland, the Netherlands and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in the Netherlands, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for cigarettes containing tobacco exported from Russia were Kazakhstan ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Serbia ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. Iraq, Syrian Arab Republic, Armenia, Belarus, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X Netherlands saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into the Russian Federation

In 2020, approx. X tonnes of cigarettes containing tobacco were imported into Russia; rising by X% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. from 2017 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cigarettes containing tobacco imports reduced to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

Armenia (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of cigarettes containing tobacco imports to Russia, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, Georgia, Switzerland and Turkey, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Georgia (+X% per year), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per tonne), while the price for Georgia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
