In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the key foreign market for apparel of leather or of composition leather exports from Russia, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Belarus totaled +26.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+81.8% per year) and Italy (-4.2% per year).

In 2021, the average leather apparel export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 57%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +32.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, India ($X), Pakistan ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest leather apparel suppliers to Russia, with a combined 76% share of total imports. Turkey, China, Belarus and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
