Imports into Romania

In 2022, supplies from abroad of natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, natural polymers imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of natural polymers to Romania, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, natural polymers imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (X tons), ninefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
