For the eighth year in a row, Romania recorded growth in overseas shipments of food preparations for infants, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, baby food exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Croatia (X tons) was the main destination for baby food exports from Romania, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, baby food exports to Croatia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Moldova (X tons), fourfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was growth in overseas purchases of food preparations for infants, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baby food imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, France (X tons) constituted the largest baby food supplier to Romania, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, baby food imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), twofold.
