Chemical Wood Pulp Exports

Exports from Republic of Korea

In 2022, overseas shipments of chemical wood pulp decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chemical wood pulp exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

Exports by Country

China (X tons) was the main destination for chemical wood pulp exports from South Korea, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, chemical wood pulp exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), twofold.

In value terms, chemical wood pulp imports soared to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
