In value terms, natural rubber and gum exports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, natural rubber and gum exports continue to indicate a deep decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, natural rubber and gum exports attained their maximum at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

New Zealand (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes) and Mongolia (X tonnes) were the main destinations of natural rubber and gum exports from South Korea, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Spain, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for natural rubber and gum exported from South Korea were Bangladesh ($X), Spain ($X) and New Zealand ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. Panama, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Mongolia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Panama experienced the highest growth rate of market size, over the period under review, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the average natural rubber and gum export price amounted to $X per tonne, going down by -X% against the previous year. In general, the natural rubber and gum export price continues to indicate an abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Panama, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, natural rubber and gum imports continue to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, natural rubber and gum imports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, natural rubber and gum imports continue to indicate a slight drop. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, natural rubber and gum imports attained their peak figure at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Thailand (X tonnes) was the main natural rubber and gum supplier to South Korea, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, natural rubber and gum imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Viet Nam (X tonnes), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume from Thailand totaled +X%.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of natural rubber and gum to South Korea, comprising X% of total natural rubber and gum imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Viet Nam ($X), with a X% share of total imports.
