In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. Imports into Republic of Korea
In 2021, overseas purchases of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes decreased by -X% to X tons for the first time since 2013, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, saw temperate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes supplier to South Korea, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), twofold. Malaysia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+X% per year) and Malaysia (+X% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes to South Korea, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and India (+X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average import price for hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes amounted to $X per ton, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
