The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked in 2018 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Egypt (X tonnes) was the main destination for paddy rice exports from Qatar, accounting for a approx. X% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, paddy rice imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, paddy rice imports totaled $X in 2018. Overall, paddy rice imports recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X tonnes), India (X tonnes) and Viet Nam (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of paddy rice imports to Qatar, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the biggest increases were in Viet Nam, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), India ($X) and Viet Nam ($X) were the largest paddy rice suppliers to Qatar, with a combined X% share of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Viet Nam recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average paddy rice import price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the paddy rice import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the average import prices for paddy rice hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, import prices failed to regain their momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Viet Nam ($X per tonne), while the price for Pakistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
