Exports by Country

Indonesia represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 32% of total exports. Peru (X tons) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Singapore (7.1%), Bolivia (6.8%), Malaysia (6.8%), the Netherlands (6.6%), China (6.3%) and Belgium (6%). Thailand (X tons), the United States (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Indonesia decreased at an average annual rate of -3.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, China (+26.8%), the Netherlands (+11.0%), Belgium (+7.1%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.4%), Hong Kong SAR (+5.6%), Brazil (+4.8%) and Bolivia (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +26.8% from 2012-2021. Peru experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Singapore (-5.8%), Malaysia (-9.0%), Thailand (-11.0%) and the United States (-13.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+5.7 p.p.), the Netherlands (+4.4 p.p.), Belgium (+3.3 p.p.), Brazil (+1.8 p.p.) and Bolivia (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Singapore, the United States, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia saw its share reduced by -3.2%, -3.5%, -4%, -4.6% and -6.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the largest tin supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 34% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Peru ($X), with a 12% share of global exports. It was followed by Bolivia, with a 7.1% share.

In Indonesia, tin exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Peru (+4.9% per year) and Bolivia (+6.3% per year).

In 2021, Singapore (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Japan (X tons) was the key importer of tin in the world, committing 44% of total import. Germany (X tons) held a 7.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (6%) and South Korea (6%). The following importers - India (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons), China (X tons) and France (X tons) - together made up 19% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Turkey (with a CAGR of +8.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest tin importing markets into Puerto Rico were the United States ($X), Japan ($X) and Singapore ($X), together accounting for 38% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, India, Taiwan (Chinese), Spain, Italy, Turkey, China and France, which together accounted for a further 43%.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +13.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
