Wood tool exports from Puerto Rico amounted to less than X kg in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.

China was the key exporter of tools of wood in the world, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 34% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons), together generating a 23% share of total exports. The Netherlands (X tons), the United States (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Russia (X tons), Poland (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Sri Lanka (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood tool exports from China stood at +4.5%. At the same time, the Netherlands (+50.5%), Turkey (+32.7%), Russia (+20.3%), Slovakia (+13.5%), Italy (+12.3%), Vietnam (+10.4%), Poland (+9.1%), Ukraine (+5.8%), Portugal (+2.7%) and Brazil (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +50.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Sri Lanka (-2.6%) and the United States (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Slovakia and Russia increased by +5.3, +4, +3.2, +2.1, +2 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest wood tool supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 43% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 7.7% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 4.9% share.

In China, wood tool exports increased at an average annual rate of +29.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+10.7% per year) and the United States (-5.3% per year).

Iraq, Mexico, the Netherlands, the UK, Sri Lanka, El Salvador, India, Peru, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +53.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
