The shipments of the five major exporters of titanium ores and concentrates, namely Norway, South Africa, Mozambique, Ukraine and Vietnam, represented more than half of total export. Canada (X tons) held a 4.7% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (4.5%). The Netherlands (X tons), India (X tons), Sierra Leone (X tons), Madagascar (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Australia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Senegal (with a CAGR of +35.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Mozambique ($X) and Norway ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 34% of total exports. These countries were followed by Sierra Leone, Vietnam, Ukraine, Senegal, the Netherlands, Canada, Madagascar, Belgium, India and Australia, which together accounted for a further 51%.

Senegal, with a CAGR of +35.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

China was the major importer of titanium ores and concentrates in the world, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 46% of total imports in 2021. The United States (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 18% share of total imports. Canada (X tons), Norway (X tons), Japan (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Russia (X tons) and the UK (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to titanium ore and concentrate imports into China stood at +3.1%. At the same time, Norway (+38.0%), Russia (+4.9%), the Netherlands (+3.8%), the UK (+2.8%), the United States (+2.7%) and Canada (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Norway emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +38.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-3.5%), Germany (-3.5%), Belgium (-5.5%) and Japan (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+11 p.p.), Norway (+4 p.p.) and the United States (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Belgium, Germany and Japan saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -2.4% and -5.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported titanium ores and concentrates into Puerto Rico, comprising 33% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 12% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +1.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (-3.2% per year) and Germany (-5.0% per year).
