In 2021, exports of mattress supports from Puerto Rico totaled less than X units, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year's figure. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern.

Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +92.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Germany (-6.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+7.4 p.p.), China (+6.2 p.p.) and the Philippines (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Germany saw its share reduced by -5.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest mattress support supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 55% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 4.6% share of global exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 4.2% share.

In China, mattress support exports increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belgium (+2.2% per year) and Turkey (+36.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Puerto Rico amounted to less than $X per thousand units, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per thousand units), while South Africa ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest mattress support importing markets into Puerto Rico were France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 26% share of total imports. Sweden, the UK, the United States, Spain, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Botswana lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

Among the main importing countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +45.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+7.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
