India (+12 p.p.), Turkey (+6.8 p.p.), France (+5.1 p.p.), Egypt (+2.4 p.p.), Brazil (+1.9 p.p.) and Ukraine (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while China, Spain, the Netherlands and the United States saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -2.6%, -3% and -4.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest maize starch supplying countries from Puerto Rico were India ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 37% share of total exports. Turkey, Spain, China, France, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Egypt, Brazil, Indonesia and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +42.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
