Exports by Country

China was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 34% of total exports. The UK (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the United States (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Belgium (X tons), New Zealand (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 47% share of total exports. The following exporters - Australia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - together made up 10% of total exports.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of wool grease and fatty substances. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+11.1%), Germany (+4.4%) and the United States (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +11.1% from 2012-2021. Japan and Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, New Zealand (-1.9%), Uruguay (-2.1%), Belgium (-2.5%), Italy (-2.9%), the UK (-5.6%), Australia (-6.2%) and Singapore (-28.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+4.4 p.p.), the United States (+2.4 p.p.), China (+1.9 p.p.) and Germany (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Singapore and the UK saw its share reduced by -3.4% and -4.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest wool grease supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 28% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 12% share of global exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 10% share.

In China, wool grease exports contracted by an average annual rate of -2.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the UK (-6.7% per year) and Belgium (-1.1% per year).

The purchases of the four major importers of wool grease and fatty substances, namely the UK, Germany, Japan and the United States, represented more than half of total import. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), comprising a 6.7% share of total imports. Belgium (X tons), Brazil (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Italy (X tons), Uruguay (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and France (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +20.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest wool grease importing markets into Puerto Rico were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 41% share of total imports. The United States, the Netherlands, Brazil, India, Belgium, France, Italy, Uruguay and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

India, with a CAGR of +12.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
