Exports from Puerto Rico

In 2021, the amount of electrical capacitors exported from Puerto Rico was estimated at less than X kg, almost unchanged from the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.

All these countries together held near 35% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), the United States (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Philippines (+28.3%), Malaysia (+7.2%), Germany (+6.4%), Indonesia (+5.3%), Japan (+3.7%), South Korea (+3.7%), the Czech Republic (+2.5%) and the Netherlands (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +28.3% from 2012-2021. Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-1.0%), Singapore (-1.8%) and the United States (-6.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+4.7 p.p.), the Philippines (+2 p.p.), Malaysia (+1.9 p.p.) and Germany (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while the United States and Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -3% and -3.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X), Japan ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 55% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese), the United States, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, the Czech Republic, Indonesia and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +25.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Puerto Rico stood at less than $X per ton in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
