For the seventh year in a row, Portugal recorded growth in overseas shipments of chocolate and confectionery, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports posted a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, chocolate and confectionery exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Spain (X tons) was the main destination for chocolate and confectionery exports from Portugal, accounting for a X% share of total exports.
