Angola (X kg) was the main destination for artichoke exports from Portugal, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, artichoke exports to Angola exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Cabo Verde (X kg), threefold.
From 2012 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Angola totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cabo Verde (-X% per year) and Luxembourg (-X% per year).
In value terms, Angola ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for artichoke exports from Portugal, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Cabo Verde ($X), with a X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Angola totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cabo Verde (-X% per year) and Luxembourg (-X% per year).

In 2020, the average artichoke export price amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2015 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Cabo Verde ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Luxembourg, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, artichoke imports contracted markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In 2020, Spain (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of artichoke to Portugal, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, artichoke imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tonnes), threefold.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, artichoke import price increased by +X% against 2018 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per tonne), while the price for France ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
