Silk Fabric Market Size in Poland

The Polish silk fabric market dropped to $X in 2020, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. Exports from Poland

In 2020, approx. X square meters of woven fabrics of silk or of silk waste were exported from Poland; increasing by X% against 2019 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at X square meters in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, silk fabric exports reduced markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia (X square meters) was the main destination for silk fabric exports from Poland, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, silk fabric exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ukraine (X square meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Italy (X square meters), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ukraine (-X% per year) and Italy (-X% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest markets for silk fabric exported from Poland worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Uzbekistan, which together accounted for a further X (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average silk fabric export price stood at $X per square meter in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per square meter in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland

In 2020, the amount of woven fabrics of silk or of silk waste imported into Poland expanded markedly to X square meters, increasing by X% on the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X square meters in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, silk fabric imports stood at $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Italy (X square meters) constituted the largest silk fabric supplier to Poland, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, silk fabric imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X square meters), fivefold. Norway (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy totaled -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-X% per year) and Norway (+X% per year).
