Exports from Poland
In 2021, ink exports from Poland skyrocketed to X tons, rising by 30% compared with the year before. In general, exports posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 52%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, ink exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for ink exports from Poland, accounting for a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, ink exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tons), more than tenfold. Denmark (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to +14.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (-1.5% per year) and Denmark (+34.0% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for ink exports from Poland, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 7.8% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +9.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+4.8% per year) and France (-11.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average ink export price amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ink Imports
Imports into Poland
In 2021, purchases abroad of inks (excluding printing ink) decreased by -26.9% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, ink imports declined markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 63%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of ink imports to Poland, together accounting for 51% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Austria, France, the Philippines, the Czech Republic and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 40%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +119.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest ink suppliers to Poland were Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 70% of total imports. Austria, China, the Czech Republic, France, the Philippines and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.
In terms of the main suppliers, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +105.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average ink import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -10.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 47%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+17.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
