Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a remarkable increase. In 2022, overseas shipments of glass fibre mats increased by 0.5% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, total exports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +2.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +1.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Czech Republic (X tons) was the main destination for glass fibre mat exports from Poland, with a 50% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre mat exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Denmark (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Ukraine (X tons), with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Czech Republic totaled +1.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Denmark (+16.4% per year) and Ukraine (+3.0% per year).

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Denmark ($X) and Ukraine ($X) were the largest markets for glass fibre mat exported from Poland worldwide, together accounting for 63% of total exports. Hungary, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Germany, Latvia, Slovakia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Italy, with a CAGR of +33.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average glass fibre mat export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -1.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland

In 2022, overseas purchases of glass fibre mats decreased by -4.9% to X tons for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +113.3% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Egypt (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre mat imports to Poland, together comprising 46% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +68.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest glass fibre mat suppliers to Poland were Egypt ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 36% of total imports.

As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
