Fig Market Size in Poland

The Polish fig market skyrocketed to $X in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption enjoyed a buoyant expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2020, shipments abroad of figs increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fig exports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Ukraine (X tonnes), Lithuania (X tonnes) and Belgium (X tonnes) were the main destinations of fig exports from Poland, together accounting for X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Lithuania ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Belarus ($X) were the largest markets for fig exported from Poland worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Romania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Slovakia and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Belgium (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average fig export price amounted to $X per tonne, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, fig export price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2020 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

In 2020, purchases abroad of figs increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports posted resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
