In 2023, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of hot-rolled steel bars and rods, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Overall, exports saw a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled steel bar and rod exports dropped significantly to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2022, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) were the main destinations of hot-rolled steel bar and rod exports from Poland, with a combined X% share of total exports. Lithuania, Italy, Denmark, Hungary, Romania, France, Australia, Austria, Latvia and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for hot-rolled steel bars and rods stood at $X per ton in 2023, which is down by X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, hot-rolled steel bar and rod export price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by X%. Imports into Poland

In 2023, the amount of hot-rolled steel bars and rods imported into Poland fell to X tons, waning by X% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled steel bar and rod imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest hot-rolled steel bar and rod supplier to Poland, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, hot-rolled steel bar and rod imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Czech Republic (X tons), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany amounted to X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (X% per year) and the Czech Republic (X% per year).
