Alcohols Market Size in Poland

The Polish alcohols market skyrocketed to $X in 2020, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when the market value increased by X% y-o-y. Alcohols consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2020, overseas shipments of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2015, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, alcohols exports fell remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tonnes), the Czech Republic (X tonnes) and Turkey (X tonnes) were the main destinations of alcohols exports from Poland, with a combined X% share of total exports. Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Italy and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Austria, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for alcohols exported from Poland were Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Turkey ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. Austria, Italy, France, Ukraine and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Austria saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average alcohols export price amounted to $X per tonne, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2012 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was France ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2020, alcohols imports into Poland expanded rapidly to X tonnes, growing by X% on the year before. Overall, imports recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, alcohols imports fell slightly to $X in 2020. In general, imports showed notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2020, Russia (X tonnes) constituted the largest alcohols supplier to Poland, with a X% share of total imports. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for Norway ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
