Exports from the Philippines
For the third year in a row, the Philippines recorded decline in overseas shipments of oil crops (primary), which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, oil crops exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of oil crops exports from the Philippines, together comprising X% of total exports. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Philippines
In 2022, oil crops imports into the Philippines reduced to X tons, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, imports, however, enjoyed noticeable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oil crops imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by X%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
