Melon Market Size in the Philippines

Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) was the main destination for melon exports from the Philippines, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, melon exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Macao SAR (X tonnes), eightfold. Kuwait (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Macao SAR (+X% per year) and Kuwait (-X% per year).

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for melon exports from the Philippines, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Macao SAR ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Seychelles, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Macao SAR (+X% per year) and Seychelles (+X% per year).

The average melon export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Kuwait ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
