Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice exports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 115% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Guam (X tons), Northern Mariana Islands (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of concentrated orange juice exports from the Philippines, together accounting for 65% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Northern Mariana Islands (with a CAGR of +32.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Guam ($X), Northern Mariana Islands ($X) and the UK ($X) constituted the largest markets for concentrated orange juice exported from the Philippines worldwide, together comprising 64% of total exports.

Imports into the Philippines

In 2021, approx. X tons of concentrated orange juice were imported into the Philippines; waning by -36.3% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 34%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. The United States (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Israel (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated orange juice imports to the Philippines, together accounting for 47% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Cyprus, the Netherlands, China, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, South Africa, Italy and Japan, which together accounted for a further 47%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +473.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Brazil ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the largest concentrated orange juice suppliers to the Philippines, with a combined 57% share of total imports. The Netherlands, South Korea, Cyprus, China, Japan, Italy, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

Among the main suppliers, Slovenia, with a CAGR of +405.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average concentrated orange juice import price amounted to $X per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
