Mercury Market Size in Peru
In 2021, after seven years of decline, there was significant growth in the Peruvian mercury market, when its value increased by X% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt descent. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mercury production fell slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, the total production indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +X% against 2015 indices. In value terms, mercury exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +X value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for mercury exports from Peru, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by India ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average mercury export price amounted to $X per tonne, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to India stood at $X per tonne.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+X%).

Imports into Peru
In 2021, purchases abroad of mercuries was finally on the rise to reach X tonnes after seven years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous setback. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mercury imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant decline. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Spain (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of mercury to Peru, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, mercury imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X tonnes), fourfold. The United States (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Spain amounted to -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-X% per year) and the United States (-X% per year).
In value terms, the largest mercury suppliers to Peru were Spain ($X), the United States ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.
Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of -X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Import Prices by Country
The average mercury import price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per tonne), while the price for Japan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
