Melon Market Size in Peru

In 2019, the Peruvian melon market increased by X% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, melon exports skyrocketed to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Italy (X tonnes) was the main destination for melon exports from Peru, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, melon exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Chile (X tonnes), threefold.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume to Italy amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-X% per year) and Ecuador (+X% per year).
