Ghee Market Size in Peru

In 2019, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Peruvian ghee market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. In general, consumption, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Ghee consumption peaked at $X in 2018, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2018, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, ghee imports dropped markedly to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In 2019, New Zealand (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Peru, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, ghee imports from New Zealand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Argentina (X tonnes), more than tenfold. France (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume from New Zealand amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (-X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2018, and then dropped in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2019, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Australia ($X per tonne) and France ($X per tonne), while the price for the U.S. ($X per tonne) and New Zealand ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
