Fig Market Size in Peru

The revenue of the fig market in Peru amounted to $X in 2018, rising by X% against the previous year. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of fig exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fig exports amounted to $X in 2018. Overall, fig exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked in 2018 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands (X tonnes), France (X tonnes) and the UK (X tonnes) were the main destinations of fig exports from Peru, together comprising X% of total exports. The U.S., Chile, China, Hong Kong SAR, Switzerland, Canada, Singapore, Russia, Malaysia and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the U.S., while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, fig export price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices for figs reached their peak figure in 2018 and is expected to retain its growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Peru

Fig imports into Peru amounted to X tonnes in 2018, falling by -X% against the previous year. Overall, fig imports continue to indicate a measured shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, fig imports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2011 to 2018, the growth of fig imports failed to regain its momentum.

In value terms, fig imports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, fig imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2018 and are likely to continue its growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Turkey (X tonnes) constituted the largest fig supplier to Peru, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, fig imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the U.S. (X tonnes), twofold.
